Hi all,
as mentioned previously on pd-list, I have updated our mailinglist server to mailman3.
in general, things should be faster and more shiny now. besides we are now running a software, that is actually supported by their developers :-)
visible changes are: # webinterface
entire email threads)
in the webinterface to a given thread - provided you are logged in) if you are not logged in, you can of course still "Reply" via your mail program)
# archives the old archives have been imported into the new system (with the notable exception of the pd-cvs archive; but the pd-cvs list has not seen any activity for the last 5 years), but the old links are still intact (and now redirect to the new interface).
# account management account management is now user-centric: you can register multiple emails for a single account, and assign which mailinglist should send to which of your emails. this means that now there's only a single password to remember for all the mailinglists.
# mails mails from the list now include a permalink to the archive. which makes it easy to reference an entire conversation via an URL with somebody else (and without having to search the archives first).
of course there are a few things you might find slightly disruptive:
that is: your passwords probably won't work anymore. if you need to change your settings, just use the "Password reset" tool, to get fresh credentials.
entire archive (sorry p8ter, but i think you were the only one using this). the links to the old full mbox download still works, but is no longer updated. up-to-date monthly mbox files are still available in the new interface (though they now have stripped away a lot of email headers, so they are less interesting for finding out from which host your email was sent in the late nineties)
i think that's about it.
if you notice any problems, please do not hesitate to contact me. if you like it, cheer along!
happy patching, vfdmsar IOhannes
