is Pd a good application for live audio performance?
Yes, that's what it is designed for.
since i know absolutely NOTHING about Pd, and dont know anyone that does, where can i find some useful information in regards to getting started and getting a feel for it? i absorb complicated technical information quite well, but i dont have a background in anything similar. any help at all is greatly greatly appreciated.
For starters the most important docs are included. Depending on what kind of mind you are you can read the html-manual first and then go through the help patches in "doc" in the order, they are numbered.
Or first gi through the help patches, then read the manual. But you really should also read the manual, it has a lot of important things in it.
Every objects in Pd (well, almost every one) has a special help patch, that you can open with Right-Click --> Help. Especially in the beginning the help patches are very important to study, too.
There are some more tutorials and articles at http://puredata.org/docs/ which can help to see the bigger picture. But the most important thing is to start patching. Just copy some help or documentation patches somewhere else and start changing them until they break. ;)
