Popularity is a non-issue with free software, it's a side-effect, and there's enough diversity in the Gnu/Linux world to offer resistance.
Anyway, It's not really about Outlook it's about getting a decent up-to-date Virus protection.
It's about liberty, which comes with responsabilities. Viruses spreads easily with proprietary softwares. A decent solution is to use free software, not anti-whatever softwares. The logic of industrial war is inneficient because the causes remains and the problems are amplified. Besides, virus protection companies needs viruses to stay in business...
