that's what the "lol" was for.
Symbols do allow for spaces. As spaces are a symbol delimiter by default, they have to be escaped in order to be part of a symbol.
that's what i hinted with "externals", as there is no way to do it within pure pd.
So its not a problem of pd syntax, more one of implementation/GUI issues IMO.

i used the wrong word: "pd-syntax"; what i meant is, that it is impossible to "pronounce" symbols containing spaces with the "speech organ" pd. bryan, how do you call this ?
