thanks to thomas fredericks for giving me the boost i needed. on win2k, THIS is what worked in the Run program:
I:\pdforwindows\bin\pd.exe -path /pdforwindows/gem-0.87/ -lib gem
however when trying the examples i still can't get gem to do anything. here is a pic of the error i'm getting when i try to create a window:
http://interface.cipic.ucdavis.edu/~jscotth/untitled.bmp
i also copied the glut32.dll into the windows32 directory which was needed for gem to load up. another thing, do i need to do anything with the gem- libs now that i'm using the gem.dll and not compiling myself?
thanks,
scott
You got the slashes going the right way!
I use a batch file to run pd and gem and in it I use gem and not Gem
The capital G might be a problem... what error message do you get.. It
loads
the dll and the main dll function in direct relation to the file name
It is easier if you create a batch file with the command
I:\pdforwindows\bin\pd.exe -path I:/pdforwindows/bin/ -lib gem
afterwards you can easily add more externals like
I:\pdforwindows\bin\pd.exe -path I:/pdforwindows/bin/ -lib gem -lib zexy
but if I were you I would move all the external libraries and objects
into
the externs folder and use the following launch command just for
(because
there already are a lot of useful externs in thos folders)
c:\pd\bin\pd.exe -path c:/pd/externs/ -path I:/pd/extras/ -lib gem -lib
zexy
still no go. this is probably my 4th time trying to get this to work in windows but it just doesn't want to. the machine i'm on could have something to do with it because it's all locked up and i don't have
admin
priviledges.
what i learned today is that i don't need to compile on windows because
i
can just use the Gem.dll. the problem with that is you have to install
the
GEM sources anyway because that's where the tutorials and demo patches
are
right? other than that i can't link to the Gem.dll with any of these methods i've tried from the Run and Command programs (and yes i put the Gem.dll in the bin directory)
\pdforwindows\bin\pd.exe -lib /pdforwindows/bin/Gem I:\pdforwindows\bin\pd.exe -lib I:/pdforwindows/bin/Gem
