In case anyone is interested, I put together a Windows external a few weeks ago for my Wacom Graphire. I couldn't figure out how to read directly from the device (I don't even know if you can) so there's an additional app that grabs the tablet mouse pointer and relay's it to Pd (and so you need to copy wintablet.exe to ./pd/bin/).

[hid]'s not on Windows yet, but the idea is to port it to Windows (anyone windows hackers want to help?) As for tablets, the wacom works well with GNU/Linux and [hid]. On MacOS X, Wacom decided to create their own API rather than integrate their driver in the existing API (punks!). That means in order to get [hid] to support tablets on MacOS X, there needs to be a section written to the Wacom API in addition to the Apple HID Manager.

The thing is that you're not looking for it to be supported by PD or GEM. Hardware is supported by your operating system. Once you have OS support you need a way to get the info into Pd, which is usually not hardware-specific. People have used tablets with Pd, so an external is likely. A quick search in the pdb shows [gemtablet], then there's [hid] which I mentioned already, and there are probably a couple others floating around.
If, for some reason, none of the Pd externals works with your tablet, you still most likely will not need to write a driver. All you would need to do is write a Pd external to capture the tablet events from the operating system.
Of course, I've never done any of this, so I may be totally wrong ;)

What operating system are you on?

Hi to all PD users, I have a question for you. I've created a friction model with PD for my thesis exam and I have to control it with a wacom tablet. That we have is Intuos, is someone there who know if it is supported by PD or GEM or I have to write the drivers? The wacom intuos is a usb tablet.
Thanks in advance
