The only time I can see that the "Close Window" prompt would be
useful is during a performance, when you really don't want to
accidentally close a running window. I think the solution is to have
a preference to enable the "Close Window" prompt and have it default
to off.

i think this is known too but nevertheless once more:
if one has a empty patch open with zero information pd asks questions. but if there is an unsaved patch and clicks on the close window
icon of the pd-window pd closes the unsaved patch without questions.m.

i wanted to join the party complaining about the new behaviour of prompting the user to save his/her work in PD 0.39. for me this is definitely a step in the wrong direction though i can uinderstand
the pros.Particularly infuriating is the "Close this window??" dialog with the nervous double question mark?? and which happens on *every*
window, *even* a fresh empty one. Excitingly, this dialog box is not defined in lib/pd/bin/pd.tk, so you can't change this in a precompiled pd,
because you have to edit C code and then recompile.I agree that sometimes one may want to have this feature, especially because most keyboards have Ctrl+E and Ctrl+W really close to each
other, so people with big fingers are at a disadvantage here. But really, it should be an option.say MAX, is that editing can be done so fast and fluent.
you might mean "fluid" here.
