Dear list,
I would like to re-post the below mail regarding the search feature of the mailing list archive. I am sure everyone here agrees that the list archive is one, if not the only one, of the most comprehensive collections of Pd knowledge that comes from more than a decade of fruitful discussions and insight know-how. It would be great if there was a way to reliably search this valuable data.
Hi list,
the biggest wealth of information about Pd might lie in the mailing list archives at http://lists.puredata.info/pipermail/pd-list/ Searching these archives for words which appear very often, such as "extended" "Gem" etc will return messages from the search algorithm, that these words are excluded from the results as there are too many occurrences. That might make sense, but renders the usability of the search algorithm very useless for certain requests.
Could there be a way to improve this? Or are there already other methods of searching the mailing list archive, besides downloading the raw 700+MB archive?
thanks, P
