should compile without either (optionals) ... i removed config.cache, then run ./configure again and that does it for me ... (now just problems with undefined symbol: XGetExtensionVersion when i run pd with gem but i think that's more of a glut thing)

You obviously miss libquicktime and libmpeg3. Those are needed for the new movie thingies in GEM.
