I don't think the 10.5 Xcode will install on 10.6 (or it shouldn't). Does the 10.6 installer have an option to install the 10.5 SDK? After installing that set 10.5 as the target platform and see what happens.
Can you run the GEM that comes in Pd-extended or the binary from SF.net on 10.6?
