The running PD part is working, the problem is that the "root" user does not have access to the display owned by another user. either you can log into X using root or you can do this:
su cp ~[your normal username here]/.Xauthority ~ export DISPLAY=':0'
/usr/local/bin/pd -rt blah blah

Hello, I am trying to run pd test 26 as root on SuSE 8.0. When I did the 'make install' as root it didn't add pd to roots path, so I am running the binary in /usr/local/bin When I do that I get the following:
reading startup file: /root/.pdrc priority 98 scheduling enabled. memory locking enabled. priority 96 scheduling enabled. memory locking enabled. Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server Xlib: Invalid XDM-AUTHORIZATION-1 key (failed key comparison) Application initialization failed: couldn't connect to display ":0.0" watchdog: signaling pd... watchdog: signaling pd... watchdog: signaling pd... watchdog: signaling pd...
Is there a permissions problem? or am I running the wrong binary?
Thanks, Matt
