hi,
just as note: i tried to compile pd under suse8.2 only once, got so many errors that i couldn't solve with my "newbie" skills...
but under 8.1 i had no problems
how about the gcc version difference on 8.1/8.2?
cheers -andre ps. my solution was, stick to 8.1

The hack I used is to look in the makefile in the directory containing the file whose compilation resulted in the warning message and remove all occurrences of -Werror from it. The proper thing to do is to eliminate the warning, in this case I think the use of a union is the way to go, but then you'll find there is another warning that shows up later on about echoed exp or something that looks like a redeclaration of a global in local scope (?)
ok. this worked well. thanks but now when i try to run pd i get an error saying that its not an tcl application. i have been messing around with the installation before i post my problem to the list and i installed Activetcl 8.4.4.0 few days ago. again. suggestions?
I know that under MacOS X, Pd only gets along with Tcl/Tk 8.4.1. Its got problems with 8.4.2 and 8.4.4. Maybe the same is true under linux?
