Quick answers:
textfile is cool - make a textfile object, right click (or whatever works for your platform) and choose "help". Basically its a simple sequencer that stores its events in a textfile - "banging" the input causes the sucsessive events to be output. it does a bang at the end of the list which you can use to do a "rewind".
Attack is Waldorf Attack - which I run as a VSTi (using vst~)
You can use the bangs from monrythm to trigger envelopes on your PD generated sounds. One of the things I use it for is to trigger envelopes on the output of a granulator type affair (all in PD)
That track is not particularly typicall of my work - its a good demo of attack and monorhythm though. (check out more at http://www.junklight.com :-))

I use a simple arrangement of textfile to feed patterns to the monrythms - there was an envelope generator that did the same thing (with a textfile) a while ago.
Please excuse my ignorance, but how do I set up an arrangement of textfile, text file i take it is an object and not a text file.
I usually drive
a drum machine (Attack being my favourite) or a sample directly from makenotes connected to the outputs of the monorythm.
I searched around and couldn't find attack, do you know where i can find it?
There is documentation with it in the form of a help patch that should be installed - read the readme with the library. There is also a polyexample patch which shows something similar to what I describe above. Where I have bangs to show the output you should put makenotes and connect it to your drum machine or sampler via midi.
ahhhh I see it is the waldorf attack. midi isn't up and running right now in pd, but I'll see what I can do. Is there anyway to sequence a simple fm oscillator-turned drum within pd? Eventually I would seek to do all my sequencing and audio within pd, or at least most of it.
The idea was to a) free my drum programing from the rigid patterns that dance music seems to have forced on most drum machines - and b) free me from the boring process of having to specify every bar - this way you can set up different length patterns on each drum sound and let them run against each other. If you want to hear this in action have a listen to: http://www.junklight.com/april02/taikonaut.mp3 the drums are ALL generated by Attack driven by monrythms (with different patterns fed to the monorythms each bar by textfiles).

I appreciate your work and share your sentiment about dance music. I will check out your song when I get home later tonight.
