I run Debian PPC on my PowerBook. Thanks to Guenter, most of the code in the Pd CVS is available on Debian i386 or PPC (and probably others).
I plan on setting up a pure-data.org Debian repository for the straight-out-of-cvs packages, where I'll have both PPC and i386 .debs.

i recommend planetCCRMA on top of redhat 9 highly. they have good, detailed installation instructions on their site and are very responsive on their mailing list:
