Right... so actually, you can spectify three quantities: the current location (a single number) , and target and time to target (pairs of numbers). These three quantities determine any line or line~'s state.
It's confusing to have "float" and "list" messages hav fundamentally different actions...! However, I can't think of anything that would be such an improvement as being worth introducing a new design...
