squeeze or wheezy? as wheezy has just been released as stable that would
be the best to use at the moment.
must be squeeze, yes.
The reason why I changed from ubuntu to debian was because I found the latest ubuntu version very bloated. But now I have issues with several details that don't work on debian, and should work on a more "general" distro like ubuntu.
Maybe you should elaborate on your 'issues with several details', because we can't help you if you don't explain what issues you are having.
for now the most annoying are glibc6 below v15 (and I can't install
leapmotion's sdk), and I can't control the cpu performance settings.
surely there are other details, but can't remember them now.
I don't see why debian is not a 'more "general" distro' and why it would not be able to do the same things ubuntu has to offer (especially if you only need to use Pd and jack).
that was my thought as I decided for debian instead of ubuntu
