You can have a look at pmpd. basicaly, it provide the basic elements to build virtual physical structure. deformations can then be used in pd in order to control any kind of synthesys. i use pmpd to extend the notion of having a physical structure controling an audio synthesis. if you record the movement of a structure in a table and read this table at audio rate, you'll get a scanned synthesys.

last pmpd version is in the pd cvs.
i think the scanned synthesis is not part of the exemple set, but i can add one if you nead...
