So if anyone has a quick solution for running Pd as soon as possible, it will be truly appreciated
To fix the kernel problems you might consider installing the agnula kernels:
add the following to /etc/apt/sources.list
deb http://apt.agnula.org/demudi testing local
...
for PD:
apt-get install puredata
I'd like to issue a warning here: The latest stable A/Demudi 1.2.0 includes Pd packages which are ridden with some nasty bugs, as I had to find out yesterday on a friend 1.2.0 install. Not even "expr" did work in the default install, and trying to use my rradical patches will lead to immediate crashes because the wrong "prepend" is in the A/Demudi pd-externals package.
However the latest offical Debian 0.38 packages by Guenther are fine in general (apart from the recently discovered amidi memory leak and maybe some other bugs like [1] which are due to pd-0.38 being not really officially stable) as are Guenther's pd-externals and pd-flext packages. I'm not sure if these are also in A/Demudi 1.2.1 yet, but they probably will be sooner or later and can be installed now without much hassle even on A/Demudi.
[1] Did you see this one, Guenther: http://tinyurl.com/69nu3 ? It's a one-line patch, but IMO critical in several usecases.
