Hi d5,
I'm experimenting with distros myself - been running debian for about
a month and pretty happy but... can you explain a bit about why you
recommend Kanotix for ATI users?
Thanks, p

I use Kanotix. I wouldn't go back to Ubuntu / Demudi.
GridFlow, PDP, pidip, GEM all work magnificently. I would not
change to Ubuntu even if Hoary paid me with a box load of Ubuntu
install CD's.Although one must consider what hardware you are running on; my
synopsis is thus:Nvidia - use Ubuntu / Demudi ATI - use Kanotix
see also #kanotix on irc.freenode.net - I reiterate once again, a
truly superior distribution.People tend to use RedHat or Ubuntu only because they "know the
name". Kanotix is the best distro you've never heard of../d5

Hello Marc, could you tell us why you choose Kanotix instead of Knoppix to
create your custom liveCD/installCD?Because it uses Debian unstable. And because there's more goodies. Kanotix is based on Knoppix. It's a Knoppix on steroids.
i once tried with Knoppix and found that it was relatively easy
if one follows: http://www.knoppix.net/wiki/Knoppix_Remastering_Howto but unfortunately did not find much time to go on. i also tried Morphix but paradoxically found it slightly more
difficult. This howto is to modify an image. I had to figure how to remaster
a HD install because I needed to update too many packages. It's not easy, there's still grey zones, but it works. -- Marc
