hi all,
so here's a bit of a newbie question: i was just wondering if there was an efficient way of loading audio files live without getting dropouts. i've tried the experimental threaded version of pd 35, as well as using readsf~ to stream audio data from disk into arrays, both of which improve performance somewhat but still cause fairly frequent stutters in the output.
i'm currently running PD on a PIII notebook with a bundled (ESS Maestro sound card (no functional ASIO drivers, so i can't use the -blocksize flag) under Windows 98, audiobuf set to 500 and sleepgrain set to 2, and am using xgroove~ to read the sound tables. any suggestions?
sorry if this has been better covered elsewhere (i looked through the archives, but didn't see anything that was of particular help.)
