hi willem,
I read:
Oh well...Guess I'll just install Linux...
good
Anyone got a distro recommendation for this kinda thing?
I avoid starting a flamewar, but I guess best supported would be debian (a lot of people here use it, there's lots of packages in demudi/agnula) or you could for planet ccrma (http://ccrma-www.stanford.edu/planetccrma/software/) which is redhat based. generally I'd recommend to use what someone in your neighborhood who you can call late at night is most familiar with (if you consider your- self a newbie).
I'm guessing it wouldn't be a particularly good idea to try running PD + GridFlow under VMware...has anybody tried?
sorry to say that but gridflow with pd is absolutely _not_ usable yet. (I wish it was) but there is also pdp (http://zwizwa.fartit.com/pd/pdp/) which works fine and has some objects to convert between sound/bitmap and vice versa.
regards,
x
