pdsend allows you to send any Pd message that you can send with [send] or [; foo( so you could think of it in terms of "how would I do that in Pd?"

Hmm, probably, but it might be tricky to make the connection. Look at the menu items for the Put menu. Basically you can use the pdsend proc to send messages like dynamic patching.
