Hello,
Let me introduce myself and tell you why I am excited about Pd.
Lately I have been interested in computer music and my home studio. I have been reading "The Computer Music Tutorial" by Curtis Roads. So I was very excited to learn about Pd through Jim Aikin's article in April's Electronic Musician. Since I got it downloaded and up and running I have been enjoying it. I have a BS degree in CS and most of my experience has been internet and Windows programming. Also I worked doing LabView programming, which is a graphical programming environment used for testing, measurement etc. developed and sold by National Instruments. I am running Pd on a Windows XP machine. I hope to have a Linux machine going in the near future. I live in Northern California. My primary instrument is guitar.
Of course I have lots of questions. Here are a few of my first questions:
1. Besides Dr. Miller Puckette who else is developing Pd? Are his graduate students involved? Some of the people on this board?
2. Does anyone mind, including Dr. Puckette, if someone else modifies Pd and distributes the modified version? Are there popular modified versions? Does Dr. Puckette ever check out modifications for inclusion into his software?
3. How come I can't access http://www.pure-data.org/ Are these pages down? Any recomendations for other good links?
For whatever reasons my programming skills have become a bit rusty. I see Pd as a good opportunity to get my feet wet again and have some fun doing it. Even make some art using my programming skills! The C source for Pd I have looked at so far seems very clean and well written. As do some of the examples written in Pd.
Thanks for any help and I look foward to participating on this board.

Hi, I'm super-desperate to get this part figured out, I'm trying to draw a
number of line segments
using glVertex3f as a GL_LINE_LOOP inside glBegin & glEnd triggered by GEM's
[until], and then
when all of the line coordinates have been calculated within [until] I then
want to draw the
finished product. (This also will be done in a loop to re-draw the shape
continously as its
variables are changed) Please, please, please help. I've been stuck on this
for days and I can't
find any kind of example, or get any help from anyone so... Help me.
Thanks in advance,
-Agent Orange
Also, if you are the one to help please make sure I can find your post by
keeping the subject
the same or similar, or even email me directly @ jukjunk(a)hotmail.com,
Thanks!

y0,
Thanks for the support, I figured out which lib [repeat] is in, 'ZEXY'. Go
figure, PDB should be updated tho so it will make that sort of thing easier
to find. Anyways,
Heres a problem I've noticed when using GEM w/ PD in windows, Clipping or
whatever you call it seems to have a trouble when windows which are open on
the desktop move either in front of / or behind each other even after GEM/PD
is closed. Has anyone else got this problem. Its like pieces of the windows
behind other windows get stuck in the top section of other window
applications, the place where the name and description of the window is
placed, and to the far right the [-][][X] etc.
Thanks,
Ju'k

Hey, i've been looking for it, searched PDB, no luck. Like you've said. Its
outdated, and does not include any references to [repeat], someone here has
got to know what lib that belongs to. Please post it if you've got it. Thx

hi,
i was just wondering if it's possible to clone the content of one Gem
window into another and how to do so.
the problem occured to me when i did a projection onto a monitor that
was out of sight for me and i needed just a small
control-monitoring-window on the computer to see what's actually going on.
or is there a possibility to send a GEMList over netsend/netreceive or
any other protocol ?

Hi list,
I am trying to figure out how to write an average
guitar-pedal-style (to start off with) phase shifter
using allpass~, but from what I have found about
digital phase shifters, you need to use allpass
filters where the delay of each input sine component
is dependant upon the frequency. As far as I can tell,
allpass~ only allows a constant delay. So while you
can do a comb filter using it, I don't see how
phase-shifting is possible. Any help would be
appreciated!
Cheers
Stefan
