What do you mean 2.6.9-final? rc4 is the latest isint it?

I am running Pd version 0.38 TEST 4, whats the advantage to running
devel_0_37?
Can I use k8, sse, mmx, and floating point=sse on my arch: AMD64 laptop?
(http://www.aproximation.org/application/AMD64laptop.html)
> and configure with:
>
> ./configure --enable-jack --enable-alsa --enable-optimize=k8 /
> --enable-simd --enable-threadedsf
And all this will work with my architecture as well?
Thanks for the speedy and in depth help! This all looks like it could
help a great deal, i just would like to know more about what my machine
can do (mmx, sse, etc.)

hello!
I am a new PD user, v0.37.3 on Windows XP... I've been taking a look at
Michal Seta's 2001 PD Tutorial @
http://pd.iem.at/pdwiki/index.php?PdTutorialOverview, and I've run into an
obstacle - the text of the tutorial reads:
"Right-clicking on the canvas opens a new window with an overview of objects
available in the standard pd distribution. This list is divided into several
sections such as audio objects, midi, control, glue, math etc."
...just like MAX, right? well, when I right-click on a new canvas window the
only options that come up in my context menu are "Properties", "Open"
(greyed-out), and "Help"
where are my objects? any assistance out there?
thanks!!
I'm trying to install GEM in Mac OSX. I got a copy of Gem.pd_darwin
and placed in the PD.app/Contents/Resources/Extra folder (following
the install instructions from the site where I got Gem.pd_darwin
from). The install instructions also told me to run the command ./pd
-nomidi -noaudio -lib Gem from Terminal.
This is the message I got after typing in the command on Terminal:
>[tigochi:Pd-0.38-0test7.app/Contents/Resources] tiagobor% ./pd
>-nomidi -noaudio -lib Gem
>tcsh: ./pd: Command not found.
>[tigochi:Pd-0.38-0test7.app/Contents/Resources] tiagobor% pd -nomidi
>-noaudio -lib Gem
>tcsh: pd: Command not found.
>[tigochi:Pd-0.38-0test7.app/Contents/Resources] tiagobor% cd bin
>[tigochi:Contents/Resources/bin] tiagobor% ls
>pd pd.tk pdsend
>pd-watchdog pdreceive pdtcl
I've also tried placing it in several other parts of the application
folder and run the command again, in none of the results I got any
closer to solving this problem.
This is also what I get in PD when I open GEM related files:
> gemhead
>... couldn't create
> pix_video
>... couldn't create
> gemwin 5
>... couldn't create
> pix_threshold
>... couldn't create
> color
>... couldn't create
> pix_texture
>... couldn't create
> sphere
>... couldn't create
> rotate
>... couldn't create
>error: inlet: expected '' but got 'reset'
>... you might be able to track this down from the Find menu.
>error: inlet: expected '' but got 'frame'
>error: inlet: expected '' but got 'offset'
>error: inlet: expected '' but got 'dimen'
>error: inlet: expected '' but got 'float'
I guess Gem.pd_darwin contains GEM and it's libraries.
Has anyone been through this experience as well? Could any one please help me?
Thanks a lot for any feedback!
Regards
Tiago

hi,
i couldn't find .pdrc anywhere in my machine (nor inside PD package contents).
inside the package content for PD i have the following files and folders:
<> for folder and - for file:
<abstractions>
<bonk~>
<choice>
<expr~>
<fiddle~>
<gem> (contains Gem.pd_darwin, placed and created by me, trying to
solve things)
<logs> (doesn't contain anything reffering GEM)
<loop~>
<Irshift~>
<pique>
<scripts>
- complex-mod~.pd
- expr.pd_darwin
- expr~.pd_darwin
- fexpr~.pd_darwin
- Gem.pd_darwin (i've placed this here)
- help-complex-mod~.pd
- help-expr.pd
- help-hilbert~.pd
- help-rev1~.pd
- help-rev2~.pd
- help-rev3~.pd
- hilbert~.pd
- README.txt
- rev1-final.pd
- rev1-stage.pd
- rev1~.pd
- rev2~.pd
- rev3~.pd
when i open PD nothing appears on screen, it looks neat and shows nothing.
trying to open 01.Text.pd (a file outside PD, it's a PD file using
Gem) with PD i get a patch window with all looking normal and I get
PD window saying:
gemhead
... couldn't create
gemhead
... couldn't create
text3d hello world
... couldn't create
rotate
... couldn't create
gemwin
... couldn't create
textoutline hello world
... couldn't create
translateXYZ
... couldn't create
rotateXYZ
... couldn't create
translateXYZ 0 2 0
... couldn't create
error: inlet: expected '' but got 'reset'
... you might be able to track this down from the Find menu.

After following the install instructions (inserting the Gem.pd_darwin
file into PD.app/Contents/Resources/Extra (inside the application
package) I've opened PD a few times (with clickin on the PD icon) and
it seems to be running normally (like always did), i've never called
Gem with typing, and whenever i've opened PD patches using Gem they
never worked (I keep getting messages such as:
>>
>> gemhead
>>... couldn't create
>> pix_video
>>... couldn't create
>> gemwin 5
>>... couldn't create
>> pix_threshold
>>... couldn't create

ok, did you create the .pdrc file on your home folder? can you also
print the entire text from your PD console window?
may be you should also look /usr/local/lib/pd/extra
is there any Gem there?
