hi
http://www.nebenton.org
the platform for sharing ringtones is online
[sorry for cross-posting]
my 'new media'-class is realizing a web-project about ringtones. its
intention is to give everybody a space to share her/his selfmade
ringtones and - in opposition to commercial ringtone providers - where
everybody can download ringtones for free.
ringtones are obviously not the most relevant thing in the world, but in
fact there are companies, which earn millions by selling ringtones. they
already became a big part of the music business economy. this is also
supported by standards like drm (digital rights management), which give
the content-providers control over when and how often a user can
play/view/print a content-file on her/his mobile device. (visit:
http://www.odrl.net for more info)
most of the ringtones are nerve-killing or just stupid. but these sounds
are most played and heard in public. they are strongly involved in our
everyday life in such a banal manner, that they haven't been discussed
yet.
for the above reasons we started the project www.nebenton.org. it is
still in testing-phase and so we need many testers and
ringtones-composers. i assume that most of you pd-users are involved in
creating sounds and noises somehow (am i wrong? ;-)) so i would really
appreciate if you find the time to create nice and adequat sounds to
share.
suddenly, www.nebenton.org is only in german. please have look at this
very short dictionary: ;-)
raufladen --> upload
runterladen ---> download
i'm excited to hear your ringtones....
cheers
roman
Hi all,
at:
http://student-kmt.hku.nl/~tjeerd/pd/pd_fileformat.html
there is a fileformat description for PureData version 0.37, written by
Simon Asselbergs and me.
If you find this document incorrect or incomplete please send us an e-mail
using the links at the top of the document. At this time, only basic PD
elements are described. We'd appreciate any help to make this document
thourougly complete.

Dear PD-list,
I use PD 0.37 under Win XP, and got troubles defining the search path : I type it in the field that PD opens in the menu File, Path. I then select Apply, then OK.
But if I quit, and then re-load PD, it's lost ! PD doesn't save my file search path, so that I've got to re-enter it every time I load PD !
Any suggestion to make PD really store this search path ? Thanks in advance.

hello
i am using hc steiner's wonderful standalone PD installer for mac osx
version Pd-0.38-2hcs0
in the download page (http://at.or.at/hans/pd/installers.html)
it is stated that GEM has been included in the standalone (looking
forward to pidip ;).
however when i try to instantiate GEM objects i get the following messages :
"error: gemwin: can't load abstraction within itself
gemwin 20
... couldn't create
"
i am running osx 10.3.9
i have tried launching pd from within x11 but i get the same errors.
am i missing something ?
thanx

Hi Davide,
a small bug report... I just forgot to send a "create" message before
sending a "train" message to nn and pd crashed.
I think it should be like with "train-on-file it", which gives an error
message.
marius.
Hi list,
Are any plans to implement shadows and reflections in
GEM? This has been asked a while ago, I'm just
wondering if things have changed since then. If not,
out of interest, what's the main problem with
implementing them, aside from being very CPU-heavy? I
think they would both be really cool features.
Thanks
Stefan Turner

hello,
I would need some help to compile the iemmatrix library for windows. I
really would like to learn how to do this myself. (a small how to compile
pd or externals on windows..).
I found an old compiler called "vctoolkit 2003" on my system and a borland
C++ compiler (5.5). And I know there is also the gcc for windows(?). But
the procedure seems to be much more complicated than on linux.
thanks for any advise...
marius.
Hi all,
due to increased demand i uploaded Windows binaries of my externals to
http://grrrr.org/ext/beta/pd/win
optimized for P4 (and needing P3 at least i think).
These builds are statically linked, so they'll suck up more resources
than necessary, but should run practically everywhere.
There is no documentation etc. included and remember, it's beta quality
(whatever that means)
best greetings,
Thomas

hi david, all

(we) my friend lorenz has been working on this, he has built a brigde
from kismet to OSC so not only pure data could use the dbase, but
many other applis that have OSC ports could "benefit" from them...

the K20 thinggy is written in C so it can dump many more numbers than
the ones that kismet_server dissects, this includes G.P.S logs...the
idea is to produce some on the fly schemata of the invisible city
networks...both sound and video in realtime...so called mapping in
sound and 3d.
it will be cool to have this on the pda, but we dont have one that
runs linux...only winblowsCE
