Sorry, I wasn't being specific-- I'm talking about what happens with [import ekext]
or [import pddp]. Aren't these are both examples of "loading a library?"
While it's true [import ekext/polymap] or [declare -lib ekext/polymap] display
the console message for [polymap] (the former upon creation and the latter when
the patch is opened), that message is only printed once; same for your
example below. Iohannes seemed to be implying that a gf.print console message
would be a nuisance because the message would get printed for every object used
in the
patch (minus one, apparently):
"so if you load a patch with 87 [print]'s in there, what information do
you
get if Pd prints 86 times 'dear user\, you are using matju's special
[print]\,
which has problems with parens.'"
I don't see how such repeated messages would ever happen-- do you?
My main point is that I think it's a good idea that if an object takes over a vanilla
object, the user has some way to know-- for example, to report bugs more
effectively. There are plenty of externals that print informative console
messages so I don't see why there would be an issue in this case.

I rather think you're confused by the term "loading a library". In
pd-extended lingo, the term "loading a library" has been misused to also
mean setting a couple of "-path"s. The traditional use of the term
describes what happens when you use the "-lib" flag or [declare -lib
...]. polymap prints its message, when it's loaded like that:
$ pd -lib polymap
...

Hi,
I'm trying to view a mjpeg stream in PD, like
http://193.40.245.184/mjpg/video.mjpg
Is this possible?
If not, is there a way around, and how?
Using PD Extended 4.25 in Ubuntu Karmic
Thanks greatly!

Hi, I started a new thread as I believe people will start getting this
problem soon. The previous thread was: gem compiling error
I am trying to compile GEM from source in a macbook pro using osx 10.6
and pd-0.42-5, latest Gem (0.92-1) from cvs and xcode 3.21.
Chris Clepper suggested to compile against sdk 10.5. sdk 10.5
installed, but can't figure out how to make it the target.
some programs have a flag like --with-macos=/.../sdk10.5, but can't
find any reference in the ./configure -h
other sites suggest to modify the makefile, but no luck yet.
I also tried: make --include-dir=/Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.5.sdk/
can anyone suggest how to do this?
best,
J

How do I switch between open windows on OSX using the keyboard? On PC I
used to be able to Ctrl-Tab. The OSX equivalent of that is Apple-`, but it
doesn't do anything; Apple-Tab on OSX switches applications, which doesn't
help either.
cheers

Does anyone have an object chain to convert from the three-digit
ds colors to iemgui colors? I tried creating one here, but they are
visibly off. Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks,

Of course we missed somethings, so now we have 0.42.5-rc2! Fixed
since 0.42.5-rc1:
* 64-bit builds on Ubuntu
* 64-bit build on Mac OS X 10.6/Snow Leopard, minus Gem, hid, and
pidip (Carbon)
* fixed [plugin~] crashes, now also builds on Mac OS X and Windows
* Pd-extended shows in the GNOME menus again
There are of course many bug fixes and additions since 0.41.4, here
are some highlights:
* fixing Graph-On-Parent GUI bugs
* complete 64-bit support for GNU/Linux
* full support for Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard (32-bit)
* a brand new Help Browser that shows all installed libraries
For more details, check the notes on the release wiki page:

Downloading
-----------
You can download builds for Debian, Mac OS X, Ubuntu, and Windows:
http://at.or.at/hans/pd/installers.html
You can get the source and build it yourself here:

BUGS
--------
Test away and file bugs in the bug tracker! Also check the bug tracker
before reporting bugs, and if you find an existing bug report on the
same issue, please add your information there:

I was trying to include pragma comments of OpenMp in a PD external, but it
does not seem to work for some reason. I tryed to look a bit on the web
about Pd and parallel code but couldn't find any thing specific about OpenMP
- does the current architecture of Pd allow parallelization with OpenMP
directives?
I included a simple directive, it compiled with -fopenmp with no error nor
warnings but in creation time (inside PD):
>undefined symbol: GOMP_parallel_start
> dtw
>... couldn't create
I found this [1] and also some references to Miller's conference about the
topic in Brasil but couldn't figure out exactly if OpenMP is allowed in pd
external code.

hello,
I'm trying to get feeds from
http://puredata.info/news/RSS
for a Drupal web site but it doesn't work. Do you know if there is
something to do for this problem (what is the exact adress with the
extension ? : .xml, .rss, .php ?).
For example, i have no problem with the Processing web site :
http://processing.org/updates.xml
or with
http://puredata.hurleur.com/rss.php
Thanx a lot.

Hi...
I have two videos (320x240 / mjpeg) which I try to use with [pix_compare]...
On ubuntu 8.04 with pd-ext 41.4 there is no problem...
But it crashes with the new 42.5 (on Ubuntu 8.04 and 10.04)
Is it the same for someone else ?
Thanks
