Hi, Im having some problems loading some extra libraries.
Im on OSX 10.39 using HansChristoph's installer Pd-0.38-2hcs0. The
libraries that wont load is py and space~. I have other libs in the
same directories that load fine. Does anyone know what causes this?
Thanks,
Timon.
Hi all,
The tenth and last chapter of Theory and Techniques of Electronic Music
is available -- this completes the first draft:
http://crca.ucsd.edu/~msp/techniques/latest/book-html/
As usual, you can download the example patches from the book website; they'll
also appear in the upcoming Pd 0.39.
cheers

Hi,
After a couple of months of relative PD inactivity, i finally tried out pd
0.38-3 recently (comming from 0.37).
On the two computers i tried it on, there where clicks in the audio much
easier then with 0.37.
One computer is a rather old (5 years) Dell desktop with win ME and an RME
Digi96 card. On 0.37 i could run quite heavy patches with 20 ms latency
without troubles. On 0.38, even with a simple testtone patch, i constantly
get clicks at whatever latency.
The other comp is an pretty new Acer laptop with WinXP and an RME
Multiface. The problems are not as bad as with the Dell, but, especially
when a lot is happening in the gui, i regulary get clicks, while in 0.37 i
only got clicks when using readsf~ until now..
Just something i wanted to report. I hope i don't have to stick to 0.37 on
those machines in the future..
cheers,
kristof

Hi list,
after searching the archives and having a look at the
pdmsg stuff ... i came to the conclusion that it does
not seem to be possible to send a pd window a message
that would cause it to resize itself to a certain
dimension, something like
|dimen xxx yyy(
|
|s pd-patchname.pd|
This would simplify the construction of abstractions
that graph on parent - we all know that they expand
themselves by 2 pixels every time they are opened. If
you do this several times, the result will inevitably
look really ugly, so it would be cool to have such a
message as a workaround.
This is an issue that pops up quite regularly, just
like the lack of strings and some other annoyances pd
is suffering from. I found the following note from
Frank in a 2003 thread that offers a viable solution
(http://lists.puredata.info/pipermail/pd-list/2003-09/013807.html):
We once talked about an alternative approach here:
Having a kind of
gop_canvas object, that acts like a normal canvas but
also defines the
area that should shine through a patch used as GOP.
Everything on that
gop_canvas is visible, everything outside of it is
not.
I still like that idea.
Hell, this shouldn't be too hard to implement. I am
also willing to offer a bounty of - let's say - a
crate of beer to the person that implements this
feature. let's get drunk at the next pd meeting!
with kind regards,
thoralf.
