okay - i didn't know that, thanks. Then it do not make that much sense.

for anyone that is interested, i was able to get the alsa seq code from
devel_0_38 to work in pd-0.38.0 (skipping the tk stuff) with minor
changes to s_midi.c and the makefile. let me know if you want a patch.

Actually, there is both a Linux and a Windows version (I think I even did the
Windows version first!)

An other advantage is of course that you can use these externals also in
MAX. To myself this is not important, because I do not use MAX, but the more
people us a software the more bugs are recognized etc.
So just an other thought:
Would it be possible to rewrite Gem with flext (with not too much effort),
so that Gem would also be useable in MAX (so maybe more people would like to
make developments in Gem) ?
And the next question: What about threads and flext. I know you can make
threaded externals, but do they work relyable?
(e.g. a threaded soundfiler (for non-devel-pd), threaded Gem (okay, would be
easier without flext, but just in case), ...)

of course ...

hi list,
this is my first shot at a graphical scope with gem.
suggestion to improve this mess are very welcome :-)

Hello Everybody,
I don't know if that is the same reason but when I try to run [matrix~]
external in pd it gives
load_object: Symbol "_matrix_tilde_setup" not found
error, although matrix~.pd_darwin is in extra folder.
anybody has a matrix~.pd_darwin compiled external for OSX that works
perfectly fine?
best.
Koray.

Hi list,
Thanks for your replies concerning matlab-to-pd matrix export.
Some more questions :
Can zexy lib process 3D matrices ? (I mean matrices with 3 indices, e.g. a 10x8x3 matrix)
If yes, how is a 3D matrix described in zexy, and how can I export it from matlab ?
If not, is there a pd lib which allows it ? Or a max lib ?
thanks a lot.

Hi list,
I'd like to import into pd a matrix processed in matlab. Is it easy ?
I've been trying to :
If I type "save mymatrix matrix" within a matlab script, it saves a file : matrix.m
If I want to read this file within pd and the zexy external lib, I can send a read message
but the file format seems to be different in zexy (the extension is .mtx), and pd doesn't accept it.
What is the correct way to import a matrix ?
thanks a lot.

hi
i tried to create a convolution filter (if this is the correct
expression for what i want), but i failed. i want to filter an
audiosignal with an impulse response (e.g. of a room) or the transfer
function of a loudspeaker.
i read the docu about 'fft and pd' from marius schebella
(http://www.parasitaere-kapazitaeten.net/Pd/fft_und_pd_en.htm) and i
tried the patch from page 5. when i use an impulse response, where the
first sample is 1 and the rest is 0, it works, which means that the
output of the convolution filter is the same as the input. but when i
change the position of the sample with value 1, i get bad glitches in
the sound. the same, when i use any other impulse responses than the
(dummy) one i described first.
i also tried the patch from page 10 (convolution filter) which is the
same as the pd-doc -> 4.fft-examples -> 08.convobros.pd. but this one
seems to work more as a vocoder than like what i want.
if somebody understands what i want and i am trying to explain --> hints
or links are very welcome. also if somebody have already made a patch to
generate reverberation with room impulse responses by convolution, i am
very interested.
cheers

Saw someone talking about readanysf~ on the list today and thought I'd
give it a shot. I hadn't realized it had resampling capabitilies.
I got it to compile by some fancy mojo from
http://iem.kug.ac.at/mailinglists/pd-list/2004-09/022353.html .
Now when I open pd I get the following error:
/usr/local/lib/pd/externs/readanysf~.pd_linux:
/usr/local/lib/libflext.so: undefined symbol: garray_updatetime
readanysf~: can't load library
Does readanysf~ still only work with flext 0.4.5 as mentioned in the
above thread? Or is there some other solution to this? Is there
somewhere I can get flext 0.4.5?
version junk:
PD from CVS about 3 weeks old. About says 0.39 test 0 (?!?)
flext 0.4.7
readanysf~ 0.13

Ian
