OK, I know that pd/pidip is cool for linux 2-D stuff. What about winXP? I was trying to map video onto cubes in gem, but I could not avoid the frame refresh popping. a 720x480 avi is no texture I think, even with my 512MB ATI 9800 and AMD 2600 w/ 1GB ram.
Whats the tool for windows? (as my linux laptop is pokey with its usb-audio card that doesnt really work well... >100ms latency)
Thanks for the help!

There is a drum machine called "rhythmcomposer" that I made for PD available
at
http://www.pure-data.org/community/patches
It will play up to 8 layers of any patterns of any length in any subdivision
of the beat with any sound, calculate the loop point of the various patterns,
display the patterns and count out the beat cycle. I use a CD of professional
drum samples to go with it, which for obvious copyright reasons can't be
included with the patch, but can be purchased at any music store.

is there a drum synth patch for pd that is available for windows?
>>This will be asked by many: Mixer turned up and unmuted?
It should be unmuted because audio CDs can be heard (through alsaplayer) and
pd 0.36 makes sound with exactly the same configuration. Anyway, sticking to
0.36 for the time being, time is for tweaking patches and not bug-hunting...
Thanx for replying!

does any one have a gem patch that will generate color bars for calibrating
an NTSC monitor?
a good pd patch that generates test tone to go along with it would be
appreciated as well.
hao,
after doing "my first" debianppc install ), i want to head to Pd,
dunno if it was gunter who mentioned a repository out there, i have
searched with no luck, my best mirrors are in brazil and what i see
there is a 0.32 version of pd.
I now i can manually d/l and compile but my Q. goes in search of a
deb ftp or http containing stuff like what h.c has already included
in the OSX and W%^$^$ extended installers.
It will be of great use a place where to apt-get install a "stable"
version + externals..
hope someone can give me directions on this cause im sure im missing something.
thanks,
nmp/

Hello all,
I'm sure I've seen this problem mentioned before (not getting any hits
when searching though), and to be honest, I thought I'd seen the last of
it, but every so often, when trying to play a sound file using readsf~ I
get the error message "unknown or bad header format". What's worse is
that PD (or my sound card? Hammerfall PCMCIA) then proceeds to play
full amplitude noise instead of the sound file.
I'm running PD on Windows XP on a Pentium 4. Does anyone know why this
happens or more to the point, how it can be avoided? It doesn't happen
often, but even once in a while is bad news for concerts.
Thanks for any help,
Michael

hello
some time ago I read that the next Linux kernel (current version is 2.4.x) will
originally include the latest ALSA driver as the generic sound driver (maybe
OSS will be abandonned)
do you know when this kernel (2.5) is released ? I could not find any
information about this
I'm very interested in this new kernel, because currently the most recent
Hammerfall sound cards (like mine) are not directly compatible with the ALSA
driver anymore (hdsploader problem, related to the RME Hammerfall PCI hardware
revision v1.8 and higher whose firmwares are not downgradable)
I saw there are new versions of the ALSA driver too, but I haven't tested them
yet (maybe this RME problem was corrected ; I should try installing these new
drivers)
On planetCCRMA, the ALSA driver is still 0.9.6, I remember the hdsp problem
remained with this version (there was a solution provided by Thomas Charbonnel,
consisting in the new hdsploader (that was NOT included in alsa-0.9.6), but I
didn't have the time to install it properly and now I have forgotten all
information about it)
is there anyone on this list who uses a recent Hammerfall dsp sound card under
Linux ? when did you buy your card ?
thanks,
j
