This happens on Pd-0.40.3-extended-20071021 on Mac OS X also. Has anyone
tested this on other GOPs? I know pddp/pddplink works fine. Also
cyclone/Scope~ also works. I think this might be an issue with the objects
themselves.

I forgot to mention that it happens to quite many if not all the GUI
objects. At least those in CVSROOT/doc/pddp/about/GUIs-about.pd.

Summary: MinGW Makefile for Pd
Initial Comment:
Attached is a Makefile for building Pd on Windows using
MinGW. I have successfully build the HEAD of the MAIN
branch of Pd in CVS with it. It goes with these
instructions:
http://puredata.org/docs/developer/win
For now, this is kind of a hacked up cross between
makefile.nt and makefile.in. Ideally, the MinGW
specifics would be incorporated into the configure.in
and makefile.in system, so that on all platforms, you
could build Pd by doing: ./configure && make

now what to do with that one?
the patch has been accepted but (afterwards) retracted by
the committer...
i guess, i close it for now and whenever the "real"
configure/makefile changes go in it should be opened again.

This is not quite ready to be included in Pd. For now, its
just used to build Pd-extended. Soon, it will be turned
into patches against configure.in and makefile.in so that
MinGW will also work with ./configure && make install

This new makefile compiles everything, including the
externals and pd.com, the cmd.exe version (using the regular
s_entry.c, no s_entry_com.c necessary, thanks to MinGW's
-mwindows).

Summary: embed preferences in to the Pd distro
Initial Comment:
This patch allows you to embed an org.puredata.pd.plist file into the Pd.app so that it can have default preferences, and also serve as something like a compiled Pd app, by embedding a patch and an org.puredata.pd.plist into a Pd.app.
It just makes minor changes to s_file.c and works with 0.39.2, 0.40.2, and 0.41-0test04.

I added a patch that supports the same idea on GNU/Linux. This might be
possible with Win32 also. My guess is that there would have to be a
separate tree in the registry that used if the user has never saved any
preferences to the registry.

Summary: Options to always use embedded preference file
Initial Comment:
In resent version of Pd-extended there is a embedded preference file. That preference file is used when no preference file exists at the os specific location outside the application. If there is a preference file outside, then that preference file is used.
The request is the option to always used the embedded preferences such that it is used even though a preference file exist outside.
This is useful for having multiple versions of Pd installed. Fx. one can use on version of Pd with a preference file located outside. -- This would be the std. or personal preferences. But still use another version of Pd like Pd-extended with another embedded preference file.
I hope it makes sense.
I couldn't choose "Pd-extended" as a catagory hence I've chosen "none".

Summary: Buffer Overrun in Pool
Initial Comment:
I have run into what appears to be a limitation with [pool], namely
that it crashes with something around ~780 characters loaded from a
file as values in a key.
I ran into this loading a particularly long list in Memento. I've
attached a patch and a file from which to load to experience the
crash. The file is just a little over the character count needed to
crash it (it seems to be between 780 and 800?). It does not seem to
be a function of the number of elements in the list, but rather the
length of the text in those elements. Shorten a few of the values in
the list and it loads right up.
I'm also pretty sure this is a per-key limitation, as memento's lddir
first loads files into /tmp before copying them into the proper key.
I've used that with a file that was just under the crashing length and
that worked fine (loaded into two keys).
I have tested this on both my PPC Mac and my Intel Mac; maybe others
can check it out too?
(also to clarify, the problem occurs when loading data from a file;
data of any length (that I've tried) makes it into the pool without
issue, and saves without issue)
After leaving it for a while on my G5,
the console started to fill with messages like so:
"pool - format mismatch encountered, skipped line 40074"
with an ever increasing line number.
I left it for about 10 minutes after that began and it showed no sign
of stopping.
(from Thomas Grill:)
It's a typical buffer overrun (caused by a loooong line of data),
making quick-and-dirty code choke.

Summary: divide by zero when scrolling patch window
Initial Comment:
Hi,
Sometimes, when scrolling a big patch window full of a lot of gop-enabled abstraction instances, BY MEANS OF THE SCROLLING WHEEL OF THE MOUSE, an error message dialog pops up, titled "Application error" which says "Error: divide by zero". If I click on "details", it reads the following:
""""
divide by zero
divide by zero
while executing
"expr -abs(0)/0"
invoked from within
"pdtk_canvas_scroll .x9a4e60.c y [expr -abs(0)/0]"
(command bound to event)
""""
Pd does not crash nor hang, it keeps working even while the dialog is open, and it keeps working when I close the dialog by hitting "OK".
It happens apparently at random times, but if I do a lot of scrolling up and down and up and down i'm almost sure to reproduce it within less than a minute.
It seems it does not happen when scrolling by dragging the scroll bar, only when using the mouse' scroll wheel.
And I guess it only happens with huge patches full of gui, as it had never happened to me before.

I had the same error some time back in Pd-extended 0.39.2 on Mac, cf. [1].
It happened all the time if i touched the track pad with two fingers while
the "two finger scroll" feature was enabled. It has disappeared in later
versions.

what is your OS?
does it go away if you apply the attached patch to the pd.tk?
(note the patch is really against u_main.tk; however, at runtime pd.tk is
used, which is a mere copy of u_main.tk)
