Summary: libquicktime0 dependency on gutsy
Initial Comment:
depends on libquicktime0 which is not availiable for
gutsy.
hackish & evil workaround posted by IOhannes:
newer versions of debian (and therefore ubuntu) have replaced
libquicktime0 (0.9.x) by libquicktime1 (1.0.x)
most likely these are binary compatible and you could install the old
package with an override-dependencies flag.
(you might also have to symlink the /usr/lib/libquicktime.so.0 to
/usr/lib/libquicktime.so)

Which version of Pd-extended is this? Also, the build date is helpful,
you can see that in the Pd window in the Gem report.

Summary: hex loader doesn't work with namespace prefixes
Initial Comment:
When using a hex loader name like 0x3c0x7e.pd for [<~],
you can't use namespace prefixes since the / is only
interpreted as a hex value 0x2f.
For example, [zexy/<~] tries to load only
zexy0x2f0x3c0x7e.pd, and therefore fails.
An additional search path should be added after this
one where the / is used literally without being
translated into a hex code, then it would look for
zexy/0x3c0x7e.pd

so, tell me, how do you make a pyext loader use the hex loader?

i just updated the hexloader external (which replaces the hexloader-code
in main pd) to do some special handling of "/".
(the revised hexloader-external is now also able to load abstractions!)
i have tested it under linux and os-x 10.4 (i think) with pd-0.41(os-x)
and pd-0.40 (linux);
could you please confirm and eventually close this bug?

how exactly do you think this should happen?
e.g. how should [path//] be resolved? "path0x2f0x2f.pd", "path/0x2f.pd",
"path0x2f/.pd" or "path//.pd"?
once there is a precise idea on how the problem should be solved, i can go
and implement it.
btw, i changed the category to "externals" since the hexloader is no
longer part of pd itself

Summary: better support for opening HTML/URLs on GNU/Linux
Initial Comment:
This patch adds a number of better commands for opening HTML files and URLs on GNU/Linux. These commands use the defaults systems, plus each command is tested before executed, so it should be more fault tolerant.

Summary: 8.5 tcl help browser bug
Initial Comment:
This help browser bug using CVS and tcl/tk 8.5 has been present since at least last fall. After digging through the code, I found the following:
proc doc_make_listbox {base dir count} {
# check for [file readable]?
if { [info tclversion] >= 8.5 } {
# requires Tcl 8.5 but probably deals with special chars better
# destroy {expand}[lrange [winfo children $base] [expr {2 * $count}] end]
} else {
The comment before "destroy" in effect disables destroying of children widgets and causes errors whenever I have more than one column open and try to click on a column preceding one that is already created. The error reported is that the "listbox1-list already exists" and the only way around is to close the help browser and reopen it. This obviously prevents going up the file tree once a particular subfolder has been opened which obviously means it is a non-lethal bug, but nonetheless annoying.
Thus, the "else" clause only affects non 8.5 versions and as such causes pd with tcl/tk 8.5 to be broken.
I just checked this out and the 8.4 syntax does work on 8.5 but in the current code it is never accessed due to the existing "if" statement. The new fix simply comments the "if" and "else" statements making the 8.4 style of closing children widgets mandatory for all versions, and since it appears that 8.4 code works fine with tcl/tk 8.5, this appears to be a universal fix for this issue.
Please see attached (diff -uw against the fresh CVS checkout).
