Summary: libquicktime0 dependency on gutsy
Initial Comment:
depends on libquicktime0 which is not availiable for
gutsy.
hackish & evil workaround posted by IOhannes:
newer versions of debian (and therefore ubuntu) have replaced
libquicktime0 (0.9.x) by libquicktime1 (1.0.x)
most likely these are binary compatible and you could install the old
package with an override-dependencies flag.
(you might also have to symlink the /usr/lib/libquicktime.so.0 to
/usr/lib/libquicktime.so)

Summary: hex loader doesn't work with namespace prefixes
Initial Comment:
When using a hex loader name like 0x3c0x7e.pd for [<~],
you can't use namespace prefixes since the / is only
interpreted as a hex value 0x2f.
For example, [zexy/<~] tries to load only
zexy0x2f0x3c0x7e.pd, and therefore fails.
An additional search path should be added after this
one where the / is used literally without being
translated into a hex code, then it would look for
zexy/0x3c0x7e.pd

i just updated the hexloader external (which replaces the hexloader-code
in main pd) to do some special handling of "/".
(the revised hexloader-external is now also able to load abstractions!)
i have tested it under linux and os-x 10.4 (i think) with pd-0.41(os-x)
and pd-0.40 (linux);
could you please confirm and eventually close this bug?

how exactly do you think this should happen?
e.g. how should [path//] be resolved? "path0x2f0x2f.pd", "path/0x2f.pd",
"path0x2f/.pd" or "path//.pd"?
once there is a precise idea on how the problem should be solved, i can go
and implement it.
btw, i changed the category to "externals" since the hexloader is no
longer part of pd itself

Summary: namespace prefixes broken
Initial Comment:
It is no longer possible to use [prefix/classname]
syntax, which is essential to the namespaces because it
is the only way that two classes with the same root
classname could be used in the same patch, i.e. like
this, where each object is a different class:
[prepend]
[cxc/prepend]
[cyclone/prepend]
This is because with the new sys_onloadlist()
functionality that checks to see whether a class has
already been loaded. It only uses the direct
classname, not the prefix also.

i totally agree that it must be fixed for pd-extended (thanks for
changing the category)
however: i just downloaded
Pd-0.40.3-extended-20071016-debian-testing-i386.deb from the 2007-10-16
autobuilds, extracted it and ran my testpatch with your Pd version: it
worked just fine
can you confirm on which versions this bug appears?

if you re-open this bug-report, could you please comment on why you do
so?
i attach an example that illustrates that namespaces work in pd-0,41;
i do not claim that they work in pd-0.40, since they don't;
afair, it has always been millers policy to fix bugs in new releases
rather than maintain old branches.

Summary: [bonk~] reads and writes to / by default
Initial Comment:
When reading and writing files with [bonk~], it
defaults to / if no directory is specified. [qlist]
and [textfile] default to the current directory of the
patch. This seems to me to be the correct behavior.
To see this bug in action, save the attached patch to
/tmp and open it.

however it might be that this my correct behaviour is specific to
linux...
attached is a unified diff against bonk~.c that uses canvas_makefilename()
for writing and canvas_open() for reading; this should behave exactly the
same as qlist/textfile

hmm, on pd-0.40 (linux), bonk~ correctly reads from/writes to the current
directory.
can you confirm whether the bug still exists?

Hey,
Is there a std. way to make diff patches (in the Pd world)? If so is
it written down somewhere? I've searched the /doc/dev and /dev
sections of puredata.(info|org) with no luck.
Thanks.
