Open patch.pd 2. Delete the subpatch. 3. Either a) create a new my_abs object or b) undo the previous delete 4. Repeat steps 2-3 n times. Now when you open the subpatch, all actions occur n+1 times, e.g.: * creating a new object box makes a chain of n+1 object boxes * patch is saved n+1 times * paste creates n+1 new copies If you don't save and try to close patch.pd, it repeats the message "discard changes to patch.pd" and sometimes crashes after two or three times. The behavior persists until closing pd completely. So if you go through the steps above 3 times, close the patch, and reopen it and go through them 3 more times, you'll get 7 extra objects every time you create something from the "put" menu. I only get this behavior when using gop, and with an object visible in the gop window. Same for abstractions. For each extra object created in the subpatch, I get a "consistency check failed: canvas_vis" error to the console. Accessing Gem_State pointer from a flext-external

Hi, I'm triing to write a flext external thats reads a gem_state struct. I 'd like to access the pixBlock data. namespaces [ after all that's the point ]

ola, from all the very long thread about pow~, i just have to add a few remarks : * namespaces don't provide at all disambiguation of classes, depending which patch you open and in which order, you'll never know what version of object you are using or which one is valid at a given moment. to me there are two real solutions to that issue : a/ impeach any overriding of classes, that will force people to find different names for their externals. b/ do a bit of 'social engineering' to prevent all of this, and, for example, someone had a tracker object once that he wanted to call grid ( as it is a grid of numbers ) and we just discussed and i told him to call it tracker, cause it's anyway closer to that function, so now everyone's happy don't believe that a 'smart' technological solution like namespaces will save you the task of communication ( well, that's true in the context of a community, humm, i doubt there's a real community here ) and for pow~, i would it wop~ cause it does the things al revés.. well, i doubt what i write will be followed anyway.. xiaoo, sevy
