Summary: Pd-extended doesn't use the embedded preference file
Initial Comment:
The behavior in the below quote from feature request 1818177 is not present in current (5-11, 6-11) Pd-extended builds.
"Pd-extended.app/Contents/org.puredata.pd.plist
If this file is present inside of the Pd-extended.app, then that Pd-extended.app will use those preferences, and ignore any other, always."
Btw, there is no v0.40.3 group to choose from.

Summary: Pd extended.app shows extra process in dock
Initial Comment:
An anonymously-iconed "pd" application shows up alongside the usual Pd.app in the dock when Pd-Extended is running. Don't know when this started; it definitely hasn't always happened.
This is on both my PPC and Intel mac using 0.40 autobuilds; not sure if it occurs in 392RC2 as well.

I get it everytime I start a gemwin, I think that is normal. On a
different computer than mine, I started Pd-0.39-2-extended-rc3 and it
started the extra icon just by starting Pd. It only seemed to happen on
that machine, which was a PowerMac G5 running 10.4.9.

That hint tells you how to hide the main Pd.app icon, which would be the
inverse of what you probably want.
This is the hack in question, check out the "rez_install" target in
packages/darwin_app/Makefile to see how this file is used:

That extra icon in the dock is triggered by a hack that allows the gemwin
to act like a normal window. Perhaps there is a way to make that icon
disappear, but still let the gemwin be moveable and to be in front.

Another Pd-0.39.2-extended-rc2 bug, but it's just a name thing. I submitted a file with the renamed help file, I hope that helps!
I'm trying to get dilligent about reporting things that I notice on random inspections for other things (this time trying to find xsample).

Summary: Gripd example patches wrong location
Initial Comment:
In the new PD extended 0.39 RC1, when trying to
access the "gripd" examples via the browser, the
example patches point to /gripd/examples directory
Example (gripdExamples.pd):
#X msg 21 6 open ../gripd/examples/gripd.gpd;
which is a path relative to the pd executable.
At the moment the example patches are in the
doc/examples/gripd.
Two easy solutions are:
1) move the example patches directory to ../gripd/examples/
2) leave the grips example patches where they are now (../doc/examples/gripd) and edit the patches such that they point to /doc/examples/gripd, like:
gripdExamples.pd:
#X msg 21 6 open ../doc/examples/gripd.gpd;
for all the examples in gripd.

gripd is currently not maintained by anyone and so it doesn't work so well
in newer version. I don't think it would be difficult to get it to work
properly in Pd-extended, but I have never used it, so I wouldn't know where
to start. I can help anyone with the Pd-extended side of the question.

Summary: crash when sending "dsp" to a signal-object
Initial Comment:
Pd crashes when you send a message "dsp" to any signal-object.
e.g.
[dsp(
|
[noise~]
the reason is obvious, as signal-objects expect "A_CANT" for the "dsp"-message but do not receive one when sending this message "manuall" (unlike when you turn on audio)
a possible solution would be to add some extra check in the message-dispatcher for A_CANT-messages and disallow them for ordinary users (sending an error-message to the console)

The flext-based externals are not part of the Pd-extended build system, so
this stuff doesn't get included. Someone would need to do that work to
include this stuff. Otherwise, just download the stuff from Thomas Grill's

Up-to-date abstractions can be found in the svn at

Summary: oggread~ crashes when non existing file is loaded
Initial Comment:
when you load a file that does not exist into oggread~ and try to play it, then pd crashes.
you can test this with the helpfile. first click on "load myfile.ogg" (which does not exist) and then on start.
on my machine (osx 10.5.2) this crashes pd. (extended 0428).

(in the future, please use complete version numbers, like above, otherwise
it can easily be ambiguous).
