what do you mean by "manage and manipulate"?
at least Gem uses ImageMagick to load images; svg is supported by ImageMagick so you can load SVGs just fine like any other image. the same might be true for pdp (but i'm no expert here)

Hello Iohannes, hello list, i try to load a .svg from : http://www.croczilla.com/svg/samples/butterfly/butterfly.svg and import it with [pix_image], i get : error: GemImageLoad: Unable to import an image: butterfly.svg
[pix_image] loads only TIFF, JPEG and PNG ? No ?
GEM: ver: 0.91.1 'tigital' Pd version 0.40.3-extended-20080722 PowerBook G4. MacOSX.4.11
Any idea about this error ? ++
Jack
