hi all,
today a friend of mine contacted me, because he has some problem with a gem patch. the patch is reported to work fine for some time, but after some time, it crashed with "vm_allocate failed (errorcode=3)". i don't know exactly, what the patch is doing, but it's somehow displaying multiple videos in different ways ... the gem version is from a pd-extended-0.39 package ...
any idea, what could cause this crash?
thanks ... tim

i asked my friend to run jamie's pd++ and gem builds instead of hcs's extended build ... the patch ran the whole night ... so it will probably run the next few monthes in the exhibition ...
seems that the integration of gem into the pd-extended distribution ... well ... needs some more work ...
cheers ... tim

The phrase "vm_allocate" is not in any of the GEM code. I don't recall seeing that error before either. I suspect it has to do with code in another part of Pd-extended and not GEM itself. I don't typically use Pd-extended though.
Again, the crash log would probably eliminate the guesswork and actually provide something to fix if needed.

Yes indeed, it would be nice if Gem was better integrated into Pd- extended so that all these bugfixes would be in one handy package. But that requires some help from the gem devs...
