hi all, esp. os-x gurus.
everytime i compile Gem on os-x, i get the following warning: GemWinCreateMac.cpp:1502:1: warning: unknown escape sequence '\p'
and indeed, there are several occurences of "\p" (though none at line 1502)
could anybody shed some light on what "\p" does and why it is used and if it is used at all (probably the compiler just replaces it with "\0")

Hi, try opening the cpp file and re-saving it with Unix line ending format (LF)

man you are a genius!
i was blinded by the fact, that there are strings with "\p" in the file; i ignored the fact that line 1509 (where the warning occurs) is the 2nd last line (i thought that there was some line number confusion by the preprocessor)

:) I had the very same problem when porting my externals from pc to mac... Now for me the rule of thumb is: when a compiler tells you nonsense check line endings!
BTW I'm looking forward to be able to use GEM with our Mac Intels... any news about an official release?
Best, Stefano
