yes, you're right. but if I'm not totally mistaken, there is no way to reduce the resolution of the frames delivered by pix_video on linux - so you just have to live with the high cpu usage caused by pix_video (or, for that matter, libdv - cannot check right now) in conjunction with ieee1394 hardware at "normal" frame rates. i'd anytime favour a solution that delivers 25 fps with a 360x288 resolution and causes 20% cpu usage over one with 10fps@720x576 and 50% cpu load.

Hi all, I use [colorspace YUV< and [pix_rgba] with [pix_video] on Ubuntu LInux Intel/Nvidia using a ieee1394 camera and the colors are ok. They were not when I tried to use RGB out-of-the-box.

I think that this is because Ubuntu uses newer version of ieee driver.

I think in Linux that is the only option. Other selections simply return message "option not supported on this OS."

Actually, no : here I can select 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5. 1 has a very low pixel resolution. 2 and 4 are greyscales images. 2 and 3 have a decent resolution. 4 and 5 have the best resolution. (but 4 being greyscale as I wrote before)

the bad thing is that that cpu usage won't drop when using smaller resolutions and/or the greyscale ones. iirc, the resolution actually stays the same, only the quality of the pixes gets worser.
