would there be such a huge difference between pix_snap and pix_snap2tex ?
this is the reason why there is [pix_snap2tex] in the first place: the bottle-neck with [pix_snap] is transferring the image from the gfx-card's memory into main-memory; this is slow if the data just stays on the gfx-card, this is _fast_
