yes, you're right. but if I'm not totally mistaken, there is no way to reduce the resolution of the frames delivered by pix_video on linux - so you just have to live with the high cpu usage caused by pix_video (or, for that matter, libdv - cannot check right now) in conjunction with ieee1394 hardware at "normal" frame rates.
Does this mean I should use the best quality possible ? (namely 5)
I think in Linux that is the only option. Other selections simply return message "option not supported on this OS."
Actually, no : here I can select 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5. 1 has a very low pixel resolution. 2 and 4 are greyscales images. 2 and 3 have a decent resolution. 4 and 5 have the best resolution. (but 4 being greyscale as I wrote before)
