speaking of gltt/ftgl: under linux, the font-rendering stuff is the only problem when trying to compile gem with gcc-3.3 marcello seems to compile all his packages with gcc-2.95 which then resolves in undefined symbols if gem is compiled with gcc>3.0 the solution is as simple as getting the sources and compiling the packages with a recent compiler et voila.
i understand that there might be some dependencies on gltt compiled with gcc- 2.95, but since ftgl would be very new, i would suggest to start with a gcc-3.3 version...
