Initial Comment: pix_mask (at least on os x and 0.91.3) does not mask the pixels completely. workaround is to use pix_takealpha instead

Message: further testing revealed that the issue is present in Gem 92.3 22 sept 2010 bot NOT in 0.91.3 May 30 2009! (the older version does work as expected) screenshot, patch and mask fies are attached.
