"fixes" the problems for most users.

Summary: vanilla, extra loading missing
Initial Comment:
Hi,
For some reason I compiled pd-extended from the latest sources and it couldn't load "vanlilla" nor "extra". If I use "-lib" it works fine.
I noticed that in packages/linux_make/default.pdextended there is no "vanilla" or "extra" in the file. Adding that manually fixes the problem system-wide.
Not really sure why loading is not working out-of-the-box.
I am using Ubuntu 11.10 64bit
Thanks.

Perhaps they are loaded differently, using /usr/lib/pd-extended/startup I
suppose.
I think the startup path code may have changed recently

Summary: multiblob help improvement
Initial Comment:
Hi,
I documented a crucial limitation about pix_multiblob, namely, that it limits blobs to 10K pixels (e.g. 100x100), since it needs to avoid stack overflow in its recursion-based algorithm. In the attached patch I am also explaining what \"weighted\" means, based on what the sourcecode does.
As a workaround to the pix_multiblob limitation, people should be using pix_opencv_floodfill instead. Otherwise the results will be weird for any object greater than 10K pixels in area.

I am working on the new implementation; in the meantime,
multiblob_help_describe_weighted_rfabbri.patch only describes what weighted
means; if you accept this patch we can close this; I will submit the new
pix_multiblob implementation on a new patch or through a git repo.

In fact, I could write a stack-based implementation for pix_multiblob, if
you agree.

Hi,
I wrote a new stack-based non-recursive implementation for pix_multiblob.
This version does not have any limits on the blob size and should also be
faster. You can access it from my published git repo, branch multiblob_alg
git://github.com/rfabbri/Gem.git
(branch multiblob_alg)
Hope it can be useful,

Hans-Christoph gave the suggestion of a missing library, and he was right.
The missing library was libv4l-dev. Not sure if Gem should have complained
about this at configure time.
Thank you.

Did you try a nightly build?

Sounds like you are probably missing library dependencies when you built
Gem.
