That's a guess... dunno how wide your widgets are, but that should give you an idea, yeah? Should I check that in?
Yes, please, but make it -width 9c.
That sounds like a reasonable compromise.
On the whole, I've been trying to *reduce* the number of #ifdefs and similar branches in the code, but I can see the shadows as being an issue for others. Me, I think it really helps the visual clarity.
ifdefs for the shadows is a bad solution I think. The should be runtime configurable, but when we start working on this we can at the same time start on a new gui abstraction layer. I would really like to do that, if I could find the time ..
Okay. What I did last night was put the GUISHADOW ifdefs in, so Frank is happy, and we have a place in the code to go to for making these adjustments in making it configurable.
Any opinion on the dirty yellow patch cords?
You mean the color ? ... -> make it configurable :)
If the GUI bits are to be made configurable, then it would make sense that the color should be, too. But I want to praise Joe for that color... it balances out the width so that it's distinctive but doesn't dominate the patch. Blue is now taken (pending disconnect), and red and green are too semantically loaded.
Ok, great, btw, this mail was personal only, right ?
No. I forgot to CC: to the list at first, but then I "redirected" the mail to the list. That had the unexpected side-effect of making it look like a personal mail sent to everyone one pd-dev. Whoops.
I think that we should use the pd-dev list, thats the main reason I wanted to have one, to be able to talk about these things.
Agreed!

any easy way of putting background images as the pd background? I would appreciate that (my eyes don't like harsh white)
