Initial Comment: on OS X there is no option to save a patch as max compatible pat file. this happens on 0.40.3, but I think with all other pd-versions too.

Message: In order to support this, someone would have to write a custom Save panel for Mac OS X. I think this is unlikely to happen any time soon, so I am closing this bug report for now.

One other thing, if you manually type ".pat" at the end of a file name, it will work.

This seems to be a bug in Tcl/Tk, since it is the exact same code on all platforms. My email on this topic to the tcl-mac list went unanswered:
