Summary: [select] doesn't always work with symbol selector
Initial Comment: a [select] without a creation argument cannot use a symbol selector. A float will work fine on the right inlet, but a symbol will not.
Also, a [select] with a symbol argument won't take a float on the right inlet, and vice-versa.

i always considered this "well defined behaviour" of [select] and not a bug.
it reacts similar to [route], but this should be documented in the reference-patch
