Hi all, has someone already made an attempt to register a MIME type for pd patches? Looking in the IANA registry (http://www.iana.org/assignments/media-types ) it seems to be feasible to call it text/vnd.puredata.patch or something like that (this doesn't require an RFC). Any opinions?
best greetings, Thomas

are marked obsolete: text/ecmascript text/javascript
are *not* marked obsolete: application/ecmascript application/javascript application/mathematica application/postscript application/pdf application/vnd.curl
All the others I see are either not programming languages (that is, at least "Turing-complete"...), including those that are not mainly programming languages (e.g. html with embedded javascript doesn't count) or they're not in the list or I haven't seen them.
In addition, most programming language file formats in common use are not registered with IANA and instead are listed in the "mime.types" file of the most used http serving software on the planet, with names like application/x-* ... this includes sh, csh, perl, tcl, tex, shockwave-flash, tcl.
In addition, that http serving software doesn't include the full list of registered mime types.
In the light of this, I propose application/x-pure-data or application/x-puredata and nothing else.
