Hello all,
I was just about to release my chaotic attractor externals when I get the following error trying to upload my source:
usw-pr-cvs.sourceforge.net: Connection refused cvs [import aborted]: end of file from server (consult above messages if any)
The command I issued was:
cvs -z3 -d:ext:bbogart@cvs.pure-data.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/pure-data import externals/chaos bbogart source-dist
Any ideas?
Thanks! Ben

i think you have to use pserver instead of ext and login prior to upload?

Hmmmm that almost worked, now cvs says:
cvs [server aborted]: "import" requires write access to the repository
I thought we all had write access?
Has anyone not on the cvs admin been able to upload anything?
Thanks Ben

I'm already enabled as a developer for the project. (at least I'm listed so on the sourceforge site) Oh well, I guess the release would have to wait a day. (if I can get it to work tomorrow!)
thanks for the help/

ah its dawning me, there's this solution.
from https://sourceforge.net/docman/display_doc.php?docid=768&group_id=1
Developer CVS Repository Access: Creating your home directory
Before a developer may access their CVS repository, they must first connect once, via an interactive SSH session, to the project CVS servers as to have their home directory created. Home directories are not shared between the project shell and project CVS servers; it is necessary to connect to the CVS server directly before using CVS services as a developer.
Upon connecting to cvs.sourceforge.net interactively using your SSH client, your home directory will be created, and you will be logged-out of that host automatically. The only reason to connect to the project CVS servers interactively is to have your home directory created; direct access to the project CVS repositories (i.e. filesystem level access via a shell) is not provided.
Failure to create your home directory before accessing CVS services will result in an error message similar to the following:
Could not chdir to home directory /home/users/u/us/username: No such file or directory
/usr/bin/X11/xauth: error in locking authority file /home/users/u/us/username/.Xauthority
Should you encounter this error message, you may remedy this issue simply by logging in to cvs.sourceforge.net interactively via SSH, as described previously.

hey again,
I logged into cvs.sourceforge.net "creating" my home directory.
I'm still getting the exact same message though, and I'm not getting the error mentioned below about not being able to cd to the home directory. Perhaps guenter has an idea.
thanks for the help. Ben

Unfourtunatly he's on vacation. Maybe your external directory "chaos" isn't made writeable for you. AFAIK this has to be done in advance, at least I asked Günther, to make a footils-directory for me.
But AFAI also K, the abstractions directory currently is writeable by all PD-developers. So you could try if you can upload a useful abstraction there, just to make sure, that nothing is wrong with your account, ssh or whatnot...
