hi all,
i just try to get pd installed, but configure looks for tcl/tk 8.0/8.2/8.3 on my system i have tcl/tk 8.4 installed, so the compilation fails. im using pd-0.35-0.linux.tar.gz from miller's page.
what can i do to get it compiled, without installing the old tcl/tk version ?
and then the next thing :
i want to start porting the vdsp (pixonix) stuff i made for jmax to pd. there are two ways i could do that, one is to take the current source and really port it to pd, or just to rebuild it from scratch. the first one would mean that a lot of fts code gets into pd, and im not sure if that could be done anyway. for the second way i need some helping hand with the interna of pd.
maybe a quick introduction of how i made vdsp will help here :
i simply took the dsp stuff (chain creation/handling/etc), duplicated it and modified it to handle pixels instead of audio data. basically its all the same as the audio part is, just the type of data passed has changed (int instead of float) and all the functions related to dsp_ got vdsp_. next was to modify the "automatic signal addition" (when you connect more than one signal to one inlet they get mixed) to add pixels.
so, if im going to reimplement it, i need to know exactly which parts of the pd source do the complete chain building/handling/etc. as im new to pd it would be great if someone can help me there. i guess it is a not-so-good idea to take the existing vdsp source, since this would mean a implementation of fts into pd. better use whats there ;-)
thanks for your help,
chris
Isn't 8.4 still in beta?
I'd be very interested in hearing about your vdsp development in PD (since I stopped using jmax when you were just starting up a couple years ago) Hope it all goes well.
