Hello all,
Is there a way I can use flext to pass data directly from my external to receives in the patch? In order to not require outlets. I've been working with lots of data, and my flext object box always shrinks down to the size of the arguments so they are impossible to use. I'm talking about somewhere between 64+ outlets... (each sending a list of 16 or so atoms)
Forcing the object box to a certain width would be a temporary solution.
Thanks Ben

Ah, last mail sent too fast. You could also send out your messages prepended by an index. You'd need only one outlet then.

you could use one outlet and prepend a symbol to the lists. in the patch you can use a route object to split the lists again...

Or dynamically build messages for receive objects. Here's an example.

Well, you probably know it, but if not: You can insert dummy arguments into an object box to [stretch ___________________________________ ] it.
This is ugly, but works.

Hmmm!
This is the first thing I tried, but the external did not accept this as a valid argument and the object does not get created. I am not using the argv and argc method of getting creation arguments, but using the 3 int argument flext macro... Could this be why I can't use -----? I did not try using underscores.
I'll try a few different characters when I get back on the machine.

Hi Ben, there are a number of functions for sending and receiving messages. flext::Forward seems to be your friend. Also see the respective bind tutorial example.
best greetings, Thomas
